Dothan Montessori School

Fueled by the strong interest from a group of young parents and the generosity of donors who believed in the vision of having a Montessori school in our community, Dothan Montessori School opened its doors as a non-profit preschool in fall of 2013. Since then, the school has provided high-quality early childhood education to children 18 months to 6 years old.

DMS has served many families in the Wiregrass – indeed, children have traveled from as far as Enterprise, and as near as a block away, to attend the preschool. The school has supported training to certify five local teachers in Montessori education, and has offered ongoing professional development and parent education to our community.

The Montessori trained staff at DMS work to foster empathy, to build community in the classroom and beyond, and to nurture internal motivation. DMS offers a warm, welcoming space for learning. The education students receive at DMS prepares them to walk forward in life with confidence, kindness, and curiosity.
