Description

THE MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL CLASSROOM

The Montessori preschool classroom functions as an integrated community of three, four, and five year olds. Three year olds enter the classroom as the youngest students, exploring the fundamental curriculum areas and looking to their older peers as mentors.  Four year olds enjoy their second year as their social skills develop and their learning expands to include more advanced lessons. By the time students are five, in their kindergarten year, they have gained self-confidence and leadership skills to be role models for their younger peers, take care of the classroom with special responsibilities, and work with academic material that challenges them and prepares them for a successful first grade year.  The skills kindergarteners practice remain with them long after their school days are over.

THE PLAYGROUND

Our playground was completely renovated during the summer of 2017 by Watershed Construction. The naturally inspired playscape features a giant sandbox, turf area, tunnel, several slides, a creek bed, and much more. This layout inspires nature based play and creativity.

MULTIPURPOSE ROOM

We use our multipurpose room for assemblies, indoor play, naps, and more. The open space provides room for obstacle courses, races, and other games when it is too cold to go outside. Students enjoy a variety of gross motor activities here, such as playing catch, having dance parties, practicing yoga, and climbing the rock wall.

THE PEACE ROOM

The Peace Room is a calm area for students to read books, use manipulatives, and create crafts. We also use this room as a meeting area for teachers and families.
