Description
Hudson Montessori School is proud of its heritage as the nation’s 13th oldest Montessori School. The school first opened its doors in July 1962, led by a small group of parents and educators who were intrigued and excited by the educational methods of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870–1952). They believed in the basic Montessori tenet of encouraging a child’s self-realization of his/her own worth and potential.
Located in Hudson, Ohio, the school began with one Children’s House class for students ages 3 to 6 in a one-room schoolhouse in downtown Hudson. It is now situated on 12 acres on Darrow Road offering programs from Infant through Middle School.
Our school was first accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) in 2007, followed by accreditation by the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS).
Today, the school consists of a Young Children’s Community (including Parent-Infant, Parent-Toddler and 3 & 5 day Infant & Toddler classes), four Children’s House classes for students ages 3 to 6, two Lower Elementary classes for students ages 6 to 9, two Upper Elementary classes for students ages 9 to 12 and the Middle School for students ages 12 to 14. HMS serves students from Hudson and over 20 surrounding communities.
More than a half-century from its founding, Hudson Montessori School continues to offer a Montessori educational experience that provides excellent academics, innovative programs and a nurturing, child-centered environment.
