Description
The Montessori School of Dayton (MSD), founded in 1964, is Dayton’s largest private non-profit Montessori School.
We are proud to offer an authentic Montessori education to children between eighteen months and thirteen years old (Toddler through Middle School). Originally known as the Montessori Center of South Dayton (MCSD), the school began in rented space in the Horace Mann School. As the school continued to grow, space was rented from the United Church of Christ on Bigger Road in Kettering. In 1988 the school again was growing and we eventually moved to our current location at 2900 Acosta Street which was the former Kettering Rolling Fields School.
In 2008, we made the decision to purchase the building with the intention of further expanding the curriculum to serve students from the toddler years (18 months) through the eighth grade. Through the purchase of the building, MSD has been able to expand and modernize the classrooms, refurbish the gymnasium and school stage with new flooring, stage curtains and lighting, and add to the extracurricular activities including art, foreign language (Spanish), concert and rock band, chorus, and theater.
We are conveniently located within a fifteen minute commute to Wight-Patterson AFB, Wright State University, Downtown Dayton, Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Centerville, Oakwood, Moraine and Kettering.
