Northwoods Montessori School

Northwoods Montessori was one of the first Montessori schools in the greater Atlanta area, and originally opened in Decatur in 1972, as the Montessori World of Children. The first elementary class began in 1975 and by 1980 the enrollment had outgrown the Decatur facility. A second campus was opened in Doraville and the school was re-named Northwoods Montessori. In the fall of 2012, Northwoods consolidated its operations at the Doraville campus. From the beginning, our founders have focused on integrating students of diverse backgrounds and on delivering a “pure” Montessori experience. We have always benefitted from our affiliation with the Association Montessori Internationale, the oldest Montessori organization in the world.
