Description
Bergen-Lafayette Montessori School was established in 2014. After spending the better part of one year visiting almost thirty schools in search of an affordable progressive early childhood experience for her then 2-year-old daughter, Leila, Myani Lawson decided to open BLMS to create access to learning through The Montessori Method, for a diverse population of students.
The BLMS staff is comprised of caring, innovative, highly qualified teachers and support personnel. All of our classroom teachers have undergone extensive training in The Montessori Method and are well-versed in observing young children and differentiating instruction to their individual needs.
The BLMS curriculum provides a traditional, authentic Montessori education, as developed from the nearly 40 years of research and practice by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori. Our school provides high-quality programs for infants through kindergarten, including parent/child classes and summer camp.
Located in the heart of the Lafayette neighborhood in Jersey City, just two blocks from the Liberty State Park light rail station, our school is situated near Jersey City points of interest ideally suited for the experiential learning environment we provide.
